Weeks of abandonment. 

Child abuse, really. 

I still can’t believe they stated it in text that John Winchester’s actions were abusive. 

Of course, those who vehemently deny that John was abusive will just say “Look who was saying it! It doesn’t count. She is the bad guy!”

But its there. Acknowledged. John, in the text of the canon, had drunken rages. 

He was gone for weeks at a time.
