daddy’s blunt instrument

veneredirimmel:

it’s sad to hear Dean talks about himself like he’s nothing more than a blunt instrument, a sword, but i don’t think anything has happened to make him believe he is more than a weapon. especially not this season that started with forcing dean emotionally to care about saving the world again and again when he was so done with everything. the situation was dire, badly exposed among all the meandering typical of dabb’s writing, but the alternative here was letting lucifer use jack’s powers to make himself the new god of the universe. and he knew the deal was probably going bad, i don’t think he believed for a second that michael was going to keep his part of it – but he’d also seen jack almost kill michael so michael is stoppable where lucifer wouldn’t be especially if he gets to use jack’s powers.

i’m sorry to see ppl ignore the pragmatism in dean’s decision, and i admit that mileage varies, but the plan worked and a good strategy is always about eliminating the biggest threat first.

what i would like for next season is

a) dean fighting michael every step of the way and slowing him down so much from inside. let jensen pull double duty he can do it and he can do it amazingly well

b) exploration of dean’s trauma(s) – not in a learn a lesson dean, but in a way that goes to the roots of it and the emotional manipulation he is subjected to so often and since he was a kid
