im bored reblog and add a photo of the grocery chain you grew up with:

which got bought by Giant Eagle

I had two.

I’m also adding two:

Miss U, Skaggs Alpha-Beta/Skaggs Albertsons.

theres like 6 of these total

We had 3 different grocery chains where i grew up, shop n’ save (later became Hannaford), shaw’s and market basket

Apparently it’s an international franchise?

We used a few different ones but Gristedes was closest, after it opened in like 1988. Before that it was Sloans and Red Apple, neither ofnwhich exist anymore I think. They’re all NYC Specific groceries as far as I know. Oh and also Zabars.

ICA (used to be short for Inköpscentralernas aktiebolag). Though I grew up before the Nära/Supermarket/Kvantum/Maxi concept.

My husband is from a Konsum (now Coop) and Hemköp family. This at least partly explains why I prefer to shop at the local ICA and he prefers to shop at the local Coop. We can talk about shop size and range of products all we want; we’re still products of our mothers’ choices.

There was an independent grocery store called Chester’s Supermarket that my grandpa would take me to every time he babysat me. The plaza had pharmacy too. It closed in 1999. The plaza is home to a pawn shop and a package store (that liquor store to anyone not from New England) now.
