remember how cas was there to kill kelly and had no intention of letting jack be born in the first place? whether or not you agree with that approach let’s just admit that that was a much more extreme reaction than dean’s. and that he was mind controlled into protecting jack.

jack choosing cas as his protector was not an indication of him choosing good but an indication of him screwing another person over and co-opting their mind. and that was after he did that to his own mother who was raped by lucifer, abused by dagon and tried to kill herself to escape the horrible situation she was forced in. stop erasing her and how awfully her storyline was handled and instead call andrew dabb out on the misogynistic writing he thinks is acceptable (and has since “i believe the children are our future” and jesse’s conception).

and cas is a character that has often had his agency compromised by outside means. fandom didn’t fail to recognize this with naomi or rowena and the attack dog spell, so why is jack any different simply because this can be twisted into a domestic scenario? even if you believe in jack and don’t blame him for what he’s done to ensure his own survival, you should be able to acknowledge that cas at no point made the conscious choice to grow a parental instinct or start thinking paradise on earth -the very concept he rebelled against heaven to prevent- was a good idea.

enough with the cutesy crap and enough with ignoring all of this to fulfill some unrealistic daddy!cas fantasy.
