i absolutely agree with your opinion on the latest ep/this whole season. it is really sad tbh, also, what do you think about how the show has generally treated sam in the latest seasons? it feels as if he is just a side character. like they somehow forget his importance. i really appreciate them /trying/ to give cas some storyline because he deserves it (even tho they are doing it wrong sigh), and i mean they aren’t treating dean well either but they are at least acknowledging him. but sam? nada

Hey dear!

This is really interesting to hear, because it shows how differently we perceive the show.

I agree with you that from S9 to S11 the focus wasn’t directed at Sam. I personally didn’t mind that at all, because it finally showcased Dean as a character and his struggles, which imo was long overdue, because every other season we had Dean worrying about either something being wrong with Sam or something being wronf with Cas. So I found it important and vital that with the entire Moc and Amara arc finally Dean was the one who became center of attention. And it also forced the dynamics to change a bit and for all of them to understand each other better as now all of TFW have been through a “going dark”-arc. So yeah, I immensly enjoyed this Dean focus (and of course I am boased here as I am a Dean!Girl lol). At the same time however I didn’t feel like Sam was rendered useless or anything. I personally really enjoyed for Sam to finally just be Sam and entirely human and not addicted to demon blood or suffering from hallucinations or dying due to the trials or being possessed by an angel. To me this was very much needed for Sam’s character development.

Now when it comes to the current season, I think my view on how the show has treated Sam and Dean differs quite drastically. 🙂 Because this season we had countless instances where Sam’s character got attention way way more than Dean who Dabb just left standing around or even worse had being absent for half the episode. Just count the kills Sam had this season, who he got the emotional talky scenes. That’s almost all exclusively Sam. From Magda to Claire to various other instances. So no, I don’t feel like the show isn’t acknowledging Sam, but rather the opposite. 🙂 If one character has been beat down and stomped on all season it’s Dean imo. But again, I am as Dean!Girl so I am def not objective. 🙂

And as for Cas, I wished the show would finally come up with a new story for Cas, one that gets him to a place of being okay, but they do the same stuff over and over and over again and it’s tiring and also so annoying because they keep undoing character development that has already happened and that’s just frustrating.

I hope you don’t take my slight disagreeing with you personal in any way, it’s really not meant this way, but I definitely see some things a bit different to you. 😉 Which is interesting how perspective differs. xx
