This is how I’d like the season to end:

There’s a final battle against Lucifer. They glue Michael’s lance back together and bring it to the fight. Somebody (preferably Sam) tries to use it, but without success.

At some stage during the kerfuffle Dean grabs the lance. As soon as it’s in Dean’s hands, about to be used against Lucifer, it transforms into a glorious weapon of fire, using some awesome, season finale special effects. Dean is also enshrouded by fire and with one powerful move he obliterates Lucifer once and forever.

Once Lucifer is gone, Dean becomes his own self again, and the lance just a piece of wood and metal. Everyone just stares at Dean without saying a word. Dean’s just like:

“What? What’d I miss?”
