Maybe there was a reason for Michael’s lack-luster efforts when it came to “seducing” Dean in S5. Maybe it had nothing to do with Michael or angels or Dean being unimportant in the grand scheme of things, maybe it was more about what was doable, about Dean’s ability to withstand such persuasion. As we have seen in the last season, God’s own frigging sister didn’t have much effect on Dean even with the MoC history, wasn’t able to “seduce” Dean, and was in turn “seduced” by Dean in changing her very nature. Given that, do you honestly think that Michael had a chance with Dean?
No wonder Michael was so resigned and half-hearted in his “seduction” of Dean. No wonder.
Tbh it has always been a headcanon of mine that we never saw Dean truly possessed because he would just immediately eject whatever it was that dared to try.
Nice theories! I’ve always wondered if Dean might be part angel himself. It’s just a headcanon, but there are too many examples of Dean doing the impossible (or at least highly unlikely). Or of him proving himself more righteous than any other in his position. Neither demon nor angel has ever been able to “seduce” him. He can look into exploding angles and not have his eyes burn. He is immune to most all evil influences, including one of the horsemen of the apocalypse. He
tends to be able to sense evil on sight and by the sound of his voice alone has caused four different people to overcome possession or mind control.I don’t know, I would take human!dean over angel!dean any day. I used to like the idea of angel!dean(or Micheal!dean) being a counter to demon!sam(or Lucifer), to balance the cosmic scales in terms of heaven and hell, good and evil etc. But, supernatural universe is not that simple, not that black and white and angels are not the forces of good any more than Chuck is a benevolent creator. As last season showed us, there is no good guys v/s bad guys in supernatural universe. There is supernatural and there is humanity. There are hunters fighting for humanity. I see Dean’s powers as an extension and manifestation of his humanity, so Dean being special while being human where it counts is what I love in him the most.
Dean, representing and protecting humanity from the supernatural is way more appealing and empowering than Dean being part angel or part supernatural.
I also see Dean as a representation of Humanity, but I also really like the idea of Divine!Dean. In my opinion, they aren’t contradictory, but go hand in hand with each other. I think Dean’s humanity- his love, his compassion, his philosophy of skepticism and humanist self-determination, and his ability to always fight back and have some modicum of hope even when the odds are stacked mountains high against him- is what makes him divine. Supernatural (imo) has a theme of Humanity is the only true messiah and we’ve definitely seen that expressed through Dean time and time again. Dean is better than the angels and he’s better than God Himself. Dean called Chuck’s spade a spade and held Chuck accountable for the world’s suffering, something Chuck refused to recognize. Dean has better morality than God. Dean managed to accomplish something God literally could not do: save the world. Arguably, that makes Dean (and by extension, Humanity), the greatest good in the universe.
