I’m excited to be the biology major who’s a girl.

I’m excited to be the biology major who is crushing misogynistic ideas of “womanhood” under her shoes, whether they be stilettos or sneakers.

Here’s why I’m so excited to major in Biology:

Actually, let’s unpack this a bit:

Great, good. I’m sure you will really stand out on a university campus. People will be all “What is this apparition before me??”, having never seen anybody like you before.

“who likes to wear dresses and frilly bras”

And also lab coats. I am sure that everyone will be noticing your dress and your bra beneath that.

“misogynistic ideas of womanhood” 

This is an area of interest which tends to come up far more in gender studies than biology. Perhaps you might consider studying that instead if addressing ideas about womanhood is your goal in your degree.

Here’s the thing. Nobody in your class is going to notice these things. The only person who is going to notice these things is you.

Conclusion: The only expectations you are subverting are your own, the only part of this that people will notice is the air of smug self-satisfaction you carry around with you, being that you have successfully defied your own expectations.
