So nice to see that, AGAIN, people are forgetting that the one who actually stopped the apocalypse was DEAN.

Sam actually would have failed in his attempt to control Lucifer if DEAN hadn’t gone there, and got himself beat to death. So no, Sam was not the cause of Lucifer’s downfall.

I am getting really, really tired of the show and fandom minimizing Dean’s role, and the show forgetting and cutting short every single Dean storyline. If there was any human that both Lucifer and Michael would try to get to and torture -if evil? It would be Dean, because Dean was the one who derailed the apocalypse. IF Lucifer and Michael are against the Darkness? THEY still would look for DEan, the one human who so far has managed to tell Destiny to fuck it and has faced and conquered many impossible odds.

Sam is a puppet, a follower, and a ball of hubris. No matter how much the show tries to make us forget it.

This. Also, there are sections of the fandom who, quite readily and often, use Sam jumping into the Cage as evidence that Sam is SPN’s sole Jesus figure. Some go even further and say that Sam is literally Jesus Christ because of it, even though Sam admitted that he wanted to jump into the Cage, at least in part, as a way to redeem himself which kind of negates the whole idea to begin with.

Dean’s actions, on the other hand, were outwardly motivated and, from a stand-point of actual Christian mythology, it’s Dean who was acting Jesus-like. Dean’s suffering literally fought back Satan.

Dean went like a lamb to the slaughter-willing into a situation that he knew would get him killed and nearly did- and because of that, he saved the world and broke Fate. Never mind the fact that Dean spent all of season five acting as effectively a stand in for Jesus (because that’s what his role as the Michael Sword pretty much is).

I’ve been seeing a lot of ‘Sam is gonna get revealed to be Jesus this season’ headcanons floating around lately and I really don’t get it. Even if Sam’s characterization or the mythology allowed for that premise, Sam is clearly not talking to God and him bringing back Lucifer is guaranteed to end badly.
