You know, as far as series ending scenarios go, I like this one better than any other.

There is a sense of poetic justice here. Dean has always been defined by his relationships, by what he could do for others and what he is to others – the show reinforces this again and again by pushing him firmly in that caretaker role. So Dean leaving everything behind(including his car) and choosing the open road on his own terms- it pleases my heart. Maybe the context here is a bit sad, but this shows me that Dean can find peace within himself, he doesn’t “need” other characters to find happiness. Contrary to the popular “Dean can’t exist without my favorite character” idea, this tells us that Dean can continue even after everything and everyone is gone, all he needs is open road and some fresh air.

And yes, this also fits nicely with my immortal!Dean head-canons.
