Why is Supernatural like this? Like was the line really needed? Why are they pushing the sexual aspect of this? They could have shown them being drawn to each other without this.
2. Somehow that personality trait is projected onto dean. Who time and time again has given his all for his brother and for everyone. I hate that ‘cause of selfdoubt dean just takes it all in and so the narrative of the show always sides with them
Yeah, one of my biggest bugbears is that when anyone, not just Sam, throws crap in Dean’s face we always seem to get Dean falling silent which means according to the show’s writers Dean is not allowed to argue back/have his opinions/his feelings validated. This is the writers allowing the audience to agree with whoever is speaking against Dean.
Just for once can Dean have the last word, just for once can we have Dean say “fuck you!” to whoever it is, to say they are wrong and give his more than legitimate reasons why and the other fall silent.
Also, enough with the manipulative bullshit show, stop with the casting “likeable” actors to play shitheads so that the easily swayed audience can take their side and have more reasons to hate on Dean, or at least nod their heads in agreement over how *wrong* Dean is when Dean dares to call this shithead out!
It was bad enough with Amy (played by sci-fi tv’s sweetheart and everybody’s favourite space mechanic Jewel Staite) in season 7…like it was obvious we were supposed to be on her side rather than Dean’s despite the fact that she killed people!!…….now we have the lovely Rob Benedict playing Chuck!God, and the writer want us all to love him (he brought back the Samulet so he must be adored!!!) and side with him and sure enough some fans seem to forget that Rob’s an actor and that Chuck!God is not actually Rob, Chuck!God is in fact a dick!
11×21 “All in the Family” God’s (True) Plan: Becoming Dean?
I have briefly talked about how uncomfortabel and worried this episode made me for Dean. And that even though Dean free will and physical and mental autonomy has been in great peril all throughout the season already with Amara effectively using mind control on Dean. As I mentioned during live watch now we see God overstepping and invading Dean’s privacy just as much as his siters does. It took me some space though to realize what we saw in this episode is actually much more than that. And it worries me deeply. Because what we have seen this episode is effectively Chuck erasing Dean, taking Dean’s place, ABSORBING him essentially. Much like Amara wants to consume Dean. Amara is after Dean’s soul to become one with her, here we see Chuck adopt some of Dean’s mannerism. And he said “acting is fun”…
Just look at this. First Chuck wraps himself in Dean’s clothes, then he proceeeds to eat the things Dean eats and finally also – after liking the long showers Dean was excited about when they first got the bunker- he uses Dean’s computer. I find this all very unsettling. Especially given how he tries to guilt trip Dean every which way and manipulates him. This really makes me wonder if God may want Dean as his vessel or if he studies Dean and “goes method” to disguise himself as Dean to get to Amara. In any case this is so MASSIVELY messed. Really, I thought it couldn’t possibly get worse for Dean. Turns out it can. I just want Dean to tell both Chuck and Amara to suck it and remain the one left standing despite all their manipulations. But what are the odds… ;___;
alright my favorite cas lovers, i wanna talk real quick about everyone having a meltdown
first of all: i get it
i totally get it. i get that you’re in pain and panicking and really fucking angry right now about cas, and how the writers seemed to have forgotten about him again.
but
i have to say, i don’t think it’s time to save castiel just yet. in fact, i’m not even all that sure castiel is going to be saved by the end of the season and here’s why:
we all know cas is in a very dark place right now. he’s lost, he has a very season 7 vibe to him right now. he said yes to lucifer. he said yes. he let this happen to himself. he did it, because he was feeling useless, pointless, and as if he didn’t matter enough, so he said yes to help somehow. in the only way he knew how at the time.
taking lucifer out of cas, without lucifer actually achieving anything at all, would be a slap in the face to cas. it would just show him, that his choices are, once again, bad choices and he is useless. obviously, this is not true, but he views himself in this way, so pulling lucifer back out, would be a nightmare on his mental health.
the reason i don’t think cas should be saved by the end, no matter how much i want it to be so, i think they need to address the elephant in the room first – cas’ mental capacity and how he hates himself so damn much. he needs more than a pat on the back, a sorry from the brothers, and told to go on his way. he needs coaxing and comfort. healing.
i’m not saying he would get this next season if lucifer is still possessing him, obviously i am not a writer on the show, i cannot predict the future. but, his storyline is so unresolved, this late in the game, and i think it’s for a reason.
don’t despair cas lovers, i have faith that they will address cas.
his time will come. hopefully in the next episode, but also, hopefully next season as well. we have to fight for cas, but cas also has to fight for cas. if he’s not willing or ready to fight for himself, then bringing him back isn’t going to go over well.
i’m not even all that sure castiel is going to be saved by the end of the season
Unless Dean is hugging Lucifer in the finale, he is himself by the end.
he said yes. he let this happen to himself. he did it, because he was feeling useless, pointless, and as if he didn’t matter enough, so he said yes to help somehow. in the only way he knew how at the time.
He said yes because it was their only option. Sam and Dean acknowledged that by wanting to use him to fight Amara. Other characters don’t speak for Cas. Amara and an angel that doesn’t know him don’t speak for him. His motivation, which is in character for him, is to do the right thing regardless of what Sam or Dean think. That’s why he didn’t consult them on saying Yes to lucifer, just like he didn’t consult them on getting the purgatory souls. He doesn’t care what they think when it comes to doing what has to be done.
taking lucifer out of cas, without lucifer actually achieving anything at all, would be a slap in the face to cas. it would just show him, that his choices are, once again, bad choices and he is useless. obviously, this is not true, but he views himself in this way, so pulling lucifer back out, would be a nightmare on his mental health.
Cas got Lucifer out of the cage and he put up a fight against Amara in episode 18. If that didn’t achieve anything then Cas did what he could. Cas is not a child, he’s not a baby. He doesn’t need to be treated as such.
they need to address the elephant in the room first – cas’ mental capacity and how he hates himself so damn much. he needs more than a pat on the back, a sorry from the brothers, and told to go on his way. he needs coaxing and comfort. healing.
He needs “coaxing”? Coaxing?? No, what he needs is a home and people who care about him. Dean and Sam can do real concrete things like give him his own room in the bunker and say they don’t want him to be Lucifer’s vessel because A) God can build Lucifer another vessel and B) they know he couldn’t expel Lucifer on his own so they helped him do it. Just like Dean and Cas helped Sam expel Gadreel after he said yes to him.
if he’s not willing or ready to fight for himself, then bringing him back isn’t going to go over well.
It was established in episode 18 that he couldn’t expel Lucifer because his hold on him was too strong. That has nothing to do with him being willing to fight for himself. He got his own grace back last season just fine with no help from Sam or Dean since they didn’t offer any.
Unless Cas says out of his own mouth that he only said Yes to Lucifer to feel useful, because of selfish motivations, then it’s not canon. And if they do make it canon, then I will be pissed because it’s out of character for Cas. The only things he said regarding the situation was to ask Lucifer if he could defeat Amara and when he said yes, Cas said yes. And then he said he wanted to be of service in the fight. Period.
So let me get this straight, when Donatello doesn’t have any faith in God he’s “exorcising his Free Will”, but Dean doesn’t have faith in God, he’s wrongfully putting all of his John baggage on Chuck and being an asshole?
