No madam slow burn is not about how many minutes two characters spent together before they fuck. It’s about the context and narrative. Does the characters interaction give their relationship any depth? Is the context of their interaction justified? Does the narrative go way out of the way to make them interact?
1- Jon/Dany interaction doesn’t add any depth to their relationship. All she does is jut out her achievements, inflate her inner ego and tell him to bend the knee. She shares her personal bs with him but he never does. She goes as far as sharing that she can never have children while there is zero personal input from his side. She asks him about his ressurection twice which he dismisses immediately. She tells him she lost her 2 brothers (massive eye roll) just like him to which he doesnt correct her that he actually lost more(he thinks Bran is dead till Sansa’s letter arrived). She expresses happiness for his siblings being alive which he refuses to indulge her any further. So far he has dismissed all her attempts at getting personal information from him. All the information she knows about him is supplied by the third party (Tyrion and Davos).
How well does Jon know her? He doesn’t know the details of her activities in Mereen and Essos. He doesnt know she fed people to her chained dragons bc of her paranoia. He doesn’t know she burned Taryls alive instead of exectuing them civilly. (And would that fairly be okay with a man who sent Melissandre away). He doesn’t know she got her enemies to bend the knee for her out of fear. He doesn’t attempt to dig up the information about her from anyone (meanwhile she tries to ask Tyrion about his resurrection). He easily accepts the information about her supplied by her and her people. He doesn’t question them. He simply tries convincing her to help his cause all during his time in Dragonstone. If that doesn’t scream not interested in capital!
Tyrion in 7×06 says he saw Jon looking at her lovingly. But when tf did Tyrion see that? But you know what we saw? Tyrion looking at her looking at Jon lovingly(during goodbye scene). Let me add bonus point here we get a clear shot of Jon not looking back at her while Jorah looks back at her *phew*
2- The context of their interaction is justified. It’s not a rocket science to figure out they would have to interact sometime during the series.
3- Yes the narrative goes out of its way to make them interact. It’s pretty convenient for Sam to find out Dragonstone has dragonglass only after Dany has arrived there(which was told to him by Stannis in s5). It’s pretty convenient for Jon to stumble upon those drawings in the cave. It’s pretty convenient for Jon to go on a suicide mission with few men, no horses, no food, no plan for a man who knows how much the white walkers shouldn’t be underestimated, get stuck on an ice island while Gendry runs off to the wall on foot (lol), send raven to Dragonstone for help & tada she gets to play the hero.
The most horrible part of their storyline is Viserion (Viserion sweetie I’m so sorry) being sacrificed for them to have a first ever somewhat heartfelt moment (in which she shares about not being able to conceive anymore but he still refuses to indulge her with personal info & doesnt even tell he lost Uncle Benjen in the process of making out alive). Moreover her reaction on having to leave Jon outshines her reaction to Viserion dying. For a mother who cannot have anymore children that’s pretty great to worry more about the man she met a month ago. Viserion had to be a sacrificial goat to kick start hand-holding (and because the writers were out of material to give them intimate moments). Its so horrible that she has to lose a child and not be given time to mourn him properly. She has to play a romantic fool here not a mother who lost her child.
Jon offers to bend his knee (wtf North is a consolation prize for losing Viserion?). They didn’t go from house to house begging for help for Jon to offer his kingdom just like that. He knows how much his sister(cousin) and his people hate Targaryens. Last time he tried erasing the century old feud he got stabbed by his own brothers (Nights Watch). His motivations aren’t in the fault but his inabilty to emphatize with his subjects is. Would he really make the same mistake again? Should he really make the same mistake again to further a romantic plot and starkbowl (Starks sweeties I’m so sorry).
It could take 12 years for them to kiss or sleep with each other and still not be a slow burn. There you have your answer.
Arya to Sansa: You let father die, you stood there with Joffery, you didn’t do anything
Bitch… What the fuck did YOU do? You closed your damn eyes & did shit all. I’m sorry Sansa didn’t grow fucking wings in between her screams for Ned’s life & kick aside the grown men restraining her before she flew over & rescued him. I’m sorry a 13 year old wasn’t strong & smart enough to save her father from a fate he sealed when he told Cersei his entire game plan & expected her to meekly scurry off. And I’m sure Ned would be totally proud of your dumb ass putting it on her & then fucking threatening your only sister’s life in the one place she was supposed to be safe. I’m sure Jon would love you threatening to skin Sansa & wear her face in his name when she is the only reason he’s king & reclaimed Winterfell. Where the fuck does she get off blaming her? What the fuck is this writing? How can she suddenly be such a hateful, spiteful, moronic person?
If one of the Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works isn’t a buddy cop series starring Tormund Giantsbane and the Hound, what the fuck is HBO even doing.
