No other cultural sculptures had the noses removed time and time again by those who took that area over. It ain’t some “The nose was the easiest thing to steal” bs either.
more like, we don’t want you to know how wide that nose was…
The Egyptians were black. The reason that the current Egyptians living there look middle eastern is the same reason why we have white people in America.
COLONIZATION.
Explain to me why every civilization in the world could build a steady nose on a sculpture, but the Egyptians couldn’t?
It doesn’t make any sense. If they can build the pyramids they can build a nose, i often find it sad how far the Europeans have gone to preserve their white supremacist ideologies while destroying African history.
Would people please stop reblogging this awful bullshit? There was no conspiracy, or even any kind of mass action, by Arab or European colonizers or anyone else to destroy the noses on Egyptian statues!
And guess what? It turns out the noses do get broken off of non-Egyptian statues all
the
time!
They’ve even got entire museums dedicated to broken Greek and Roman noses!
And while you’re at it, stop trying to spread the totally unsubstantiated myth that ancient Egyptians were “more black” than Egyptians today!
Ancient Egyptians – just like Egyptians today! – had a variety of skin colors! Look, in one famous family:
Ancient Egyptian history needs to be accepted on its own terms. It doesn’t fit into a white supremacist historical agenda, but it doesn’t need to be distorted to fit an Afrocentrist agenda, either. Ancient Egypt was not Europe, but it wasn’t identical with African history, either. Ancient Egyptians saw differences between themselves and all of their neighbors, to the northeast, northwest, and to the south, as we can see in this work, which portrays an Egyptian on the far right:
I’m mostly reblogging this post because of the display of broken noses (plus some ears and part of a face?) Museums full of noses. Can you imagine?
It’s almost like the parts that stuck out were more likely to get broken off over time
The venus de milo doesn’t have arms ffs statues are made out of stone and when you carve stone anything sticking out becomes structurally weak.
“Come on, now. You tried to hang it up and be a person with Lisa and Ben. And now here you are with a mean old coot and a van full of guns. That ain’t person behavior, son. You’re a hunter, meaning you’re whatever the job you’re doing today.” [Bobby Singer, 7.09]
This actually makes me a little sad for Dean. Dean is not at all known for talking about feelings, his or anyone elses, and when he does have some moment of weakness, some verbal freak out, or some expression self doubt, the responses aren’t comforting, or reassuring. They’re not gentle, or kind. They’re rude and condescending, they toss around names, and instead of actively listening they discount his feelings and worries.
My psych teacher has a poster in her classroom that says “Everytime you call your boyfriend ‘Daddy,’ Sigmund Freud’s ghost grows a little bit stronger,” and if that isn’t threatening, then I don’t know what is.
Stale air rich with cigarette smoke, sweat, and mold. The breeze squeezes in the stink of smog and sin. Sticky clouds stuck in a stormy sky. The moon is flickering, why?
PART I
_______________
I’ve had this idea of an animated mini comic for a while now and I’m finally trying this out 😀 Stay tuned for a second (and maybe third part). Btw, this is young!Dean Winchester, sleeping in a motel room, when he suddenly wakes up by a strangely behaving moon. This is also somewhat inspired by David Firth’s “Salad Fingers”, especially the shading 🙂
Reincarnation is a known, common, and expected result of death. You are a bounty hunter that specializes in tracking down people who have committed suicide to escape debts or a jail sentence.
“It’s a girl!” the doctor exclaimed.
“It’s a fucking tax dodger is what is it!” Blaize ‘The Flame’ Hogan burst into the infirmary, cocking his shotgun.
