Anyone remember how it was a big deal when an archangel is through with their vessel, and how that vessel is left, basically, a vegetable?

Wanna bet this is not going to be an issue with Michael and Dean? Because Dabb.

They never explained how or why but original Michael did say in 5.13 ”You know, unlike my brothers, I won’t leave you a drooling mess when I’m done wearing you.”

That was one of the reasons that season 5 Michael!dean looked like it could be in the cards.

Whether that requires active care or healing from Michael (that AU Michael might not bother with) or is just a natural effect of his own control/power I guess they will decide next season lol.

Yeah, well, Lucifer was cast out of that fantasy president they had for a few episodes without any apparent damage to the vessel.

Except that he seems to have mysteriously changed to become Trump in 13.23 , which some might consider a fate worse than death…

Maybe it’s because, since Dean is The Michael Sword™ he’s naturally able to handle archangel grace, most specifically Michael’s grace? Because I would think if anything, Michael would be the strongest out of the four of them and the most powerful so whoever he is wearing has to be likewise just as strong.

Maybe it has less to do with Michael taking care of Dean and more to do with Dean at a subatomic just being able to contain Michael and his power.

Or maybe some of Michael’s grace was already within Dean.

Remember, Michael wore John for a little while when Mary was pregnant with Dean. Who’s to say he didn’t pull some Samsom bullshit and consecrated Dean in-utero with his grace, exposing Dean to it so it would make him stronger like angelic Ovaltine.

That last point makes me wonder:

just imagine John-as-Michael had actually gotten Mary pregnant!

Boom! Nephilim!Dean! (I know I know, fanfic land, but still. Instant head canon.)

So I spent a good chunk of yesterday brainstorming Nephilim!Dean and now I have a fanfic in the works.  So here’s what I’ve got so far:

There is no YED deal so Yellow Eyes doesn’t kill Mary, an angel does who shows up one night to kill Dean. (They don’t know that Dean is Michael’s nephilim just that he’s a nephilim). Dean starts the house fire when his powers get activated out self-preservation/terror/anger because this strange person is in his room and it hurt Mommy. (obviously, that angel is toast)

John still gets into the life because something burned his wife’s eyes out and set fire to the house. He’s even more of an asshole to Dean because he has this feeling that Dean isn’t his (though genetically speaking Dean would be) and there’s something…off about him.

As Dean gets older his powers start to manifest themselves but he can’t control them. Dean accidentally brings someone back to life during a hunt. He does it again during another hunt. On a third one (with Jo’s Dad) John demands that Dean do it and he can’t. John gets pissed. Healing people is the biggest thing Dean can do so after that the theory is that Dean is some kind of faith healer. (Because angels aren’t real of course).

Cut to some years later to the night Jess dies. Sam and Dean get there after The Lady In White hunt sooner (because Dean heard Jess praying all distressed). An angel has killed her (because they were looking for Dean and she was collateral damage). Said angel proceeds to call Dean an abomination and stabs him with an angel sword…and it doesn’t work, much to the angel’s shock. Once again pyro-power’s activate. The apartment burns. Dean gets Sam outta there.

Sam’s all pissed off because he knows Dean can heal people so he could have saved Jess (even though Jess was beyond saving) so there’s tension between them. And Dean tells Sam that he heard her praying which is not a thing he can normally do.
