I’m not convinced Dean saying yes to Michael would have been a terrible idea. I know he’s partly wanting to say yes because he’s depressed and hopeless and lost after everything that happened with Sam and with hell, but that’s not all it’s about. He genuinely wants to save as many people as he can, and I think that message gets lost in translation in this episode. And if Sam was strong enough to best Lucifer, I can’t see why no one thought to think Dean would be strong enough too. [5.18]
