Not sure why it’s so easy to give a character that has only been around two episodes more compassion and understanding than a character whose journey we’ve been following for thirteen seasons.
Also, does it weird anyone else out how a lot of the fandom has just accepted Jack? “He’s so pure. He’s so innocent. Poor baby.” While I’m very wary. I completely understand Dean’s hesitance to trust and allow Jack into his heart.
I HATE when characters are infantilized by the show and its fandom. It’s one of the reasons I’ve mostly lost interest in Cas, and currently a part of the reason I can’t warm up to Jack.
Right now I’m neutral towards Jack, but if the show continues to use cheap, manipulative tricks -like having Jack exhibit Cas traits or mirror Dean’s actions and behavior- then they can put me in the “I can’t stand Jack” category. Because then he’ll just be an echo of characters I actually do like, have spent multiple years following their journey: characters who’ve earned my love, trust, and respect (I really only mean Dean at this point).
